Juho Turtiainen
Hello hello!
After the first board year I am still fiending for more and this year has motivated me to pursue
an extension for my contract with PT. During this year I have had the opportunity to dive
deeper into the inner workings of the guild which has been insightful. I would like to be there
next year to support and help in making these same things possible. I also want to be there to
support the new possibilities that the PT 15 celebrations bring us.
While forming the board it is important to evaluate the overall chemistry of the board in
addition to the individual characteristics of the people you pick. Chemistry between closely
related positions is especially important, for example Fuksi Captains and IE.
Another important theme in my opinion is the financial position of the guild. Sponsor deals
have been on a downward trend stemming from the continuous shocks affecting businesses
which in turn limits the available budget for our guild. Due to the prevailing economic
circumstances, we need to pay even closer attention to our expenses. I can only speak about
our year, but I feel that we have been successful in keeping this in mind and lowering some
expenses. I want to make sure we continue to pay attention to finances until we reach brighter
times.
Then to brighter subjects regarding my role as a part of the board. I want to create an open
environment where everyone can share their opinions freely whether they are positive or
negative. I want to be trustworthy and dependable so board members feel that they can come
to me if they are struggling with personal matters and might need more support in their tasks.
Especially early on after the board has been chosen, I want to have group activities where all
of us get to know each other and starting our year will go smoothly. I also want to encourage
trying new things and ideas they might have. When needed I will provide advice for my board
members on their tasks while of course avoiding micromanaging.
Also, an important responsibility is keeping things together. As the chair, you need to be up to
date on your boards plans and tasks while also making sure that shared matters like keeping
the tent at different events are handled. Active communication and delegating tasks when
needed is critical. If conflict arises, I will do my best to mediate the situation.
The text is getting quite lengthy, but I will gladly answer any questions so that I can open up my
thoughts more. In addition to the comments, you can also ask questions directly through
Telegram @prosessikilta.
I want to wish good luck to any other applicants!
