I am applying for the role of Head of Communications because I believe communication is becoming an increasingly significant part of our everyday lives. Nowadays, we are constantly surrounded by communication, whether we like it or not. When Telegram, email, and other social media channels are all shouting at us at the same time, it is simply impossible to fit all the necessary or useful information into our heads. It is easy to become numb to communication, and sometimes you would rather just turn off your phone than receive yet another message.
In this constant flood of information, I believe the most important qualities of communication are memorability and clarity. I want to help shape our guild’s communication so that it sounds like us – Generation Z.
I believe I am well suited for this role especially because of my attitude and motivation. As a fourth-year student, I have a clear understanding of what I personally want from our guild’s communication. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to get to know PT’s various internal committees and activities extensively, and I currently serve as a song leader and Artistic Director. During the 2026–2027 term, I will also serve as the Communications Officer on the board of Teekkarispeksi, having previously worked as a producer for the same organization. Through these roles, I have gained solid experience, while also recognizing that there is still plenty left for me to learn.
As Head of Communications, I would like to be an approachable board member, a hard-working team player, and, when needed, someone who can lighten the mood. Through this role, I want to bring the members of Prosessiteekkarit closer together, so that despite its large size, this young guild can truly work together towards a common goal. I want to make our communication useful to everyone, from the most diligent guild bot to the most seasoned veteran who has somehow made it through the seventh attempt at the same course – and absolutely everyone in between!
What makes successful and effective communication possible? How can urgent information be brought to the attention of the entire guild as quickly as possible?
Currently, I see PT’s core communication consisting of weekly email newsletters and our Telegram announcement channel. Telegram allows us to reach a wide audience quickly, while weekly newsletters provide space for more detailed content. I also appreciate traditional websites, where various topics can be communicated clearly under dedicated categories.
Do you find something to develop regarding PT’s weekly newsletters? If yes: what? If no: why not?
I don’t think major changes are needed for the weekly newsletters, as their current structure is clear and effective. In the future, they could also be posted directly on the website.
How important do you see the use of social media as part of the guild’s information and visibility? Should the use of some platform be increased or decreased?
I think there are two sides to this issue: on one hand, maintaining a presence on social media benefits the guild and aligns with modern practices, but on the other hand, I would like to reduce our dependency on it. I believe it is worth considering our long-term social media goals from a sustainability perspective.
Completely leaving social media isn’t realistic or beneficial, so I would rather focus our efforts on a few well-functioning channels. For instance, Instagram isn’t an effective platform for official announcements, as single posts easily get buried among ads, influencers, and memes.
Information committee has a wide range of officials and there can be found several different units. How would you ensure the share of information and the division of work in your committee? Is there any specific sector of the Information committee that you would like to develop?
In my view, the communications committee is roughly divided into three main areas: ProTeesi, social media, and graphics. Each area operates fairly autonomously thanks to established practices, but information sharing between them remains limited. As Head of Communications, I would like to set up a shared Telegram channel for the entire communications committee. This would help members get to know one another and make it easier to maintain consistent messaging and visual identity.
Since I haven’t been involved in all committees, I can’t comment on all of their specific development areas, but I am extremely glad to see how talented and enthusiastic our graphic designers are right now.
