Helmi Artama

Hello! 

I’m Helmi, a third-year Prosessiteekkari majoring in Chemical Engineering and Processes.  During the past year, I have being on the board as an IE together with Annika, and through that,  I have had perhaps the most memorable year of my life. When I applied to become an IE, I  talked about how much PT and all the events had given me, and how I wanted to give  something back to the guild. The same theme is still relevant, and it is also why I am applying  to be the former of the board. I feel that the year on the board, the committee, and all the new  people and opportunities have given me things that I would like to make possible for others in  the future as well. 

I am energetic, enthusiastic, and outgoing by nature. I feel that I am at my best when I see  everyone around me thriving. I would like to form a board where people appreciate one  another and, because of that they want to work towards common goals. In my opinion, a good board consists of different kinds of personalities, and everyone feels comfortable bringing  their own ideas and perspectives to the table. I am motivated by seeing people around me  who are determined to get things done and willing to try something new. This is the kind of  culture I would also like to help create within the board. I have heard the saying, “Teekkaris do  what they want, not what they can do,” and I think this summarizes well how important  motivation is when it comes to getting things done. I would like to be an approachable chair who motivates people to get things done but also knows how to switch off sometimes. 

The themes I would like to focus on next year are balanced finances and spending, as well as  smooth cooperation between the CHEM guilds. In the end, the direction the guild focuses on  next year depends on the people involved and what matters to them. I want to give everyone the opportunity to come up with ideas and make them happen, rather than saying what  should do next year. My responsibilities on the board this year have been less administrative,  and if I were selected, I believe there would be a lot of new things for me to learn. This excites  and scares me at the same time, but I am motivated to learn and ready to do the work to make  sure Prosessiteekkarit is just as bright next year.
