Aada Hakala

Hey former of the board and all other members!

My name is Aada, a second-year student majoring in chemistry and materials science. Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to be part of two different positions within the guild, as well as in the role of Responsible ISO, and these roles have been truly rewarding. They have allowed me to work closely with other active members of PT, and I feel that teamwork is one of my strongest areas of expertise. I believe that I still have a lot to offer to the guild, which is why I’m applying to join the PT board as a spokesperson for 2026!

I love being organized, paying attention to details, and having clear routines. During my fuksi year, I eagerly read PäleWiikkis, which helped me stay on top of many events happening during fuksi year. Good communication was a significant factor in my active participation, and I want to ensure that every member continues to receive the information they need on time and easily accessible.

This year, I have been part of the guild’s social media team, where we have worked together to develop communication and produce content for social media channels. The teamwork has been inspiring and educational, and it has strengthened my desire to continue developing communications on the board. The guild’s social media channels are close to my heart, and I want to ensure that they remain informative, accessible and unifying for the community.

I believe I’m well suited for the role of spokesperson, as I have experience with social media, strong teamwork skills, and a genuine desire to make the guild’s communications clearer and more reachable. I’m responsible, proactive and ready to take new challenges and above all eager to work for the benefit of the members

I’m happy to answer any questions here or on Telegram @aadahakala

1. What makes successful and effective communication possible? How can urgent information be brought to the attention of the entire association as quickly as possible?

In my opinion, successful and effective communication consists of clear language, the right choice of channel and visual appeal. Clear and easily understandable text ensures that information reaches everyone. I would also emphasize the most important points at the beginning. Choosing the right channel is also important, because they reach members in different ways. In addition, visual elements add structure to the content and highlight important points. I think urgent information is most effectively communicated to members through multiple channels at the same time. However, if I had to choose only one channel, I would choose Telegram.

2. Do you find something to develop regarding PT’s weekly newsletters? If yes: what? If no: why not?

In my opinion, the guild’s weekly newsletter is clearly structured and informative. The repetitive structure makes it easy to understand, and I particularly like the “events of the week” section at the beginning, where you can quickly find the most relevant information. As a suggestion for improvement, I would recommend shortening the newsletter. A more concise format could further improve readability and save reader time.

3. How important do you see the use of social media as part of the association’s information and visibility? Should the use of some platform be increased or decreased?

The use of social media is a very important part of communication and visibility for PT.  It reaches members where they already spend their time and allows messages to spread outside the guild. During my time on the Abi team this past year, I noticed that social media is the easiest way to reach high school seniors and make connections to them.

4. Information committee has a wide range of officials and there can be found several different units. How would you ensure the share of information and the division of work in your committee? Is there any specific sector of the Information committee that you would like to develop?

To ensure effective communication and division of work within the communications committee, open and regular interaction is key. I would establish dedicated communication channels for each unit, where team members can share their thoughts and participate in discussions. Additionally, I would organize regular short update meetings to review current tasks and ensure everyone is on the same page.

To clarify responsibilities, I would create clear role descriptions and timelines for each team member, accessible to everyone. This would help reduce overlapping tasks and make it easier for individuals to understand their own responsibilities.

In my view, the different units within the communications committee function well in their respective roles. However, I would improve the shared brand guide to ensure consistency in fonts, colors, and overall visual style. This would help maintain a unified and recognizable look across all guild communications.
