PT is really close to my heart, and like a home away from home for me. After an eventful year as a Fuksi Captain, I want to step into a more administrative role and ensure that our guild members have a variety of activities after their fuksi year as well. To me, the core of student culture is in the community, and I want to support and advance it within our guild and outside of it. I became interested in the role of the Head of Internal and External affairs (SUV) due to the variety and community spirit of the role, and I feel like I have a lot to give to it.<\/p>\n

As the SUV, I would aim to work closely but flexibly with my committee, support the rest of the board with the help of my previous board experience, and to facilitate our student and teekkari culture in the Teekkari Culture committee of AYY alongside the Vice Chair. I\u2019ve previously held quite a variety of roles within our guild, but I feel like they all combine a love towards student culture, our guild members and the sense of community.<\/p>\n

I also want to maintain strong bonds with our sister associations. In my opinion student culture is at its best together, and I would like to actively work to find solutions to facilitating the visits of our sister guilds, as Otaniemi doesn\u2019t have the same capabilities for overnight stays as many other student towns do. I would also like to invest effort into our dear guild room alongside the Shift Supervisor, so that our guild members feel welcome to pHuone and it\u2019s kept neat and cozy.<\/p>\n

To the officials I want to give freedom and support to organise culture, wellbeing and alumni activities for the benefit of our guild, and I also want to take care of the wellbeing of the officials themselves. My focus would be on good communication and reasonable budgeting, so that the officials have the necessary tools to facilitate activities without compromising our guild\u2019s finances.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Is there any specific unit of Care committee that you would like to develop? Why and how \/ why not?\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n

There’s many different units under the Care committee, which is why the officials being active is extra important. I feel that the officials ideas and motivation are key for developing, so I would try to gage the interests for different units already during the officials applications, and start building a suitable combination for developing the care committees activities from there. Each year is different and looks like the people working on the activities and that’s completely okay. For that reason I would emphasize development ideas from the officials side, and support the officials in realizing them. The best outcome comes from intrinsic motivation.\u00a0<\/div>\n

Managing sister guild relations is an important part of the tasks of the Head of Internal and External Affairs. What goals or ideas do you have for fostering sister guild relations in the coming year?\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n

Staying overnight in Otaniemi has come up as an issue multiple years in a row when it comes to hosting our sister guilds here. We unfortunately don’t have the same kind of accommodations close to student housing as many other towns do, and that has made vising Otaniemi noticeably more difficult. I would like to extend effort into helping coordinate and communicate these visits early, so that we’re able to host well and find accommodations for sister guilds staying overnight. Additionally, I would actively keep in touch with our sister associations with the officials, not just when they’re visiting us.<\/div>\n

The Care Committee has a wide range of officials. How would you ensure the communication and activity in each part of the care committee throughout the year?\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n

I would hold regular meetings with each unit of officials, so that I can keep up with what’s happening in the Care committee, how projects are coming along, and if there’s something that the officials need my help and support for. Active communicating is also important, so I would strive for smooth relaying of information and open communication, so that everything keeps moving even in situations where unexpected challenges arise. Activity starts from wellbeing, so I’d focus on preventing officials burn out, and offering help for tricky situations early, so that we can avoid pile up of tasks and the work load stays manageable for everyone. The most important thing would be to find motivated people for the officials positions, so that they have enthusiasm for our projects.<\/div>\n
