I am Eerik, a third year student with chemical engineering and processes as my major, and I\u2019m applying for the role of Head of Internal and External Affairs. This year I have been a culture and wellbeing responsible and a song-leading appretince in the guild. Also this year I have been on the board of GAYY as the treasurer.<\/p>\n
I’m running for the guild board because student culture is close to my heart, and I want to do my part in developing it for the better. It’s important to me that all students, regardless of their backgrounds or personal characteristics, feel welcome in our guild. In association work, I value continuity alongside openness to change. It’s good to preserve practices that have proven successful, but especially as Teekkaris who can be prone to clinging to traditions, we must be able to put the community’s current needs and values ahead of tradition.<\/p>\n
The role of Head of Internal and External Affairs caught my interest during the year while being on the care committee. It’s important to me that everyone can find activities they enjoy within the guild, regardless of their hobbies or interests, and I believe that as HIEA, I would have the opportunity to make a difference in this regard. Civilizing Teekkaris is also a goal I would be committed to in this role.<\/p>\n
As Head of Internal and External Affairs, my goal would be to maintain good relations with sister guilds and to be a good host when welcoming visitors from outside Otaniemi. Within Aalto, I would advocate for joint events, particularly in the area of culture and wellbeing, where individual student associations do not always have enough demand to organise activities on their own. I would be enthusiastic about participating in TKTMK activities within the limits of my own wellbeing. I also believe I could put the experience I’ve gained through GAYY to good use at events organised by TKTMK, as we have been involved in organising several of the same or similar events throughout the year.<\/p>\n

Is there any specific unit of Care committee that you would like to develop? Why and how \/ why not?<\/strong><\/p>\n I believe the direction in which each area of the Care Committee develops depends on the people who take on the respective roles. Maintaining and developing sports activities would be important areas of focus towards which I’d be working together with the Sports Responsible. Sports sessions, the sports cup, and trying out different sports have been accessible and enjoyable ways for me to stay active, and I would like to make sure these activities continue. Regarding culture and wellbeing, I would like to deepen cooperation between student associations, especially the CHEM guilds.<\/p>\n Managing sister guild relations is an important part of the tasks of the Head of Internal and External Affairs. What goals or ideas do you have for fostering sister guild relations in the coming year?<\/strong><\/p>\n I would like sister guilds visiting Otaniemi to feel welcome. I think it’s important that visitors get to experience Otaniemi’s student culture and meet us local chemical engineering students. If possible, it would be great to organise events such as sitsit. When hosting visitors, it’s important to inform guild members about upcoming events well in advance and to organise engaging activities so that our own members would also show up. For visits in the other direction, I believe smooth cooperation with the Head of Corporate Relations and the Excursion Master would be important.<\/p>\n The Care Committee has a wide range of officials. How would you ensure the communication and activity in each part of the care committee throughout the year?<\/strong><\/p>\n This year, everyone in the culture and wellbeing team apart from me has been absolutely amazing, and I believe that having wonderful people is one of the Care Committee’s greatest strengths. That’s why I consider it important to find enthusiastic and capable people for each role. For example, I don’t know very well what kind of activities old people enjoy, so I think it’s important that the Alumni Responsible is someone who understands the mindset of the older generation.
