Hi, I\u2019m Sanni, a second-year student majoring in Bioproducts and Biotechnology. This year, I have been working as a BIG, and it has been a really enjoyable experience. I am a very social person; I enjoy meeting new people and helping others. That is why I have enjoyed being a BIG, and why I believe I would make a good fuksicaptain.<\/p>\n

I am very active in student life, and during my fuksi year I was chosen as a superfuksi. I enjoy attending all kinds of events and volunteering at them as well. My favourite events are sitsit. I also hold five official posts. I work as an apu-ie and influencer for Prosessiteekkarit, and as an apu-ie, song leader, and guild merchandise coordinator for Puunjalostajakilta. In addition, this autumn I started creating social media content for aallonteekkarit\u2019s TikTok account.<\/p>\n

This year, I want to take on more responsibility and become a member of the board. I am interested in several different positions, but becoming a fuksicaptain is my dream. I want to guide new students, advise BIGs, and organise events. I am also excited about the opportunity to become friends with my fellow fuksicaptain, as well as with the other board members.<\/p>\n

I spend my free time, in addition to student events, pursuing my hobbies and being with my friends. My hobbies include sewing, working out, reading, gaming, doing gel nails, and some other activities. I enjoy sewing clothes and modifying clothes that I have bought from second-hand shops or regular stores. I work out at the gym and am trying to build muscle mass. I mainly read books in English, and during the summer, while working, I also started listening to audiobooks.<\/p>\n

I have worked for Lapin Kansa for six years. I write for the newspaper\u2019s youth section, Vasa, where I produce news articles, columns, and other content. During the last academic year, I also worked in a shop alongside my studies. This year, however, I have not applied for a job because I underwent a hysterectomy due to endometriosis. If I am selected as a fuksicaptain, I will not apply for a job in the spring either, so that I can be sure I have enough energy to fulfil my responsibilities.<\/p>\n

  1. If you were Fuksi Captain, what would be your goal for the next 1.5 years?\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    To get the first-year students enthusiastically involved in various events, to help them settle in well and find their own friends, and to make the most of the joy of being a fuksi captain.<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Students who do not feel that they belong to a community or have friendships with their fellow students at the beginning of their studies often lag behind in their studies. How do you manage to integrate all fuksis into a community or help them to find their own group of friends?\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      BIGs play an important role in integrating the fuksis. Fuksi group meetings and successful icebreaker games during orientation week help the fuksis become part of the community. If I encounter a situation where someone is left alone, I would first contact their BIGs. Together, we could think of ways to help the fuksi become part of the community. For example, it could help to combine the meetings of two fuksi groups so that the fuksi has a good opportunity to get to know members of another group with low-threshold.<\/span><\/p>\n

      It is also good to talk to the fuksi in question and find out whether there is a reason behind it. For example, it could be caused by anxiety. In that case, it is good to discuss the matter and guide the fuksi towards support. By talking about my own experiences, I could encourage the fuksi to attend events and make friends with others.<\/span><\/p>\n

      1. PT has over 200 fuksis starting each year. What challenges and opportunities do you see this bringing to PT\u2019s fuksi education?\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        The biggest challenge would be ensuring that all fuksis receive personal guidance and advice. Many may need more support than is available. Referring to the previous question, it is also challenging to make sure that everyone finds their own community. For me personally, however, the hardest thing would be remembering the names of as many fuksis as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

        A large number of fuksis also brings good opportunities, as there may be more enthusiastic and active participants in student life. Events are more fun when there are many participants. The chances of finding your own group of friends are also greater when there are more options. On the other hand, this may cause anxiety for some, but for the majority it is an opportunity.<\/span><\/p>\n

        1. How would you promote equality between Finnish- and English-speaking bachelor fuksis?\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          It would be good to organise more events that English-speaking fuksis can attend together with Finnish-speaking fuksis. Speaking English at events helps with this. We could collaborate with the international captain to promote equality.<\/span><\/p>\n

          1. Being Fuksi Captain is teamwork. What kind of partner would you like for yourself and what kind of partner would you be? How would you maintain a good atmosphere and working habits with your partner?\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            I get along with everyone, but I hope that my partner would be equally active in student life so that responsibilities can be shared evenly. I am very social, proactive, and I like to plan things in advance. As a partner, I would be encouraging and always talking. I maintain a good partner dynamic by being myself. Meaning that I actively stay in contact with my partner, and we plan events together.<\/span><\/p>\n
