I am applying for the position of Chair of Prosessiteekkarit ry because I believe that the guild continues to play a highly important role in Finnish society. Its long history, work to promote the position and equality of process engineering students, and the nationwide network formed by its members provide a strong foundation for future activities. At the same time, the guild must look boldly to the future and ask how Prosessiteekkarit ry can become even more influential, visible, and meaningful to its members in the decades to come.<\/p>\n
As Chair, I would like to build Prosessiteekkarit ry into an organisation that is unifying, open, and forward-looking. I see the Chair primarily as an enabler: the role is to listen to members, strengthen cooperation, maintain a clear common direction, and ensure that every member has the opportunity to succeed in their own activities.<\/p>\n
Finnish society is changing rapidly. Questions related to equality have not disappeared, even though significant progress has been made in Finland. The position of process engineering students continues to be shaped by developments such as changes in working life, economic uncertainty, violence, an ageing population, digitalisation, the distribution of care responsibilities, and opportunities for participation.<\/p>\n
At the same time, the operating environment of student guilds is changing. People expect guilds to provide meaningful activities, opportunities to participate, and a sense of community, while the ways in which people participate have become increasingly diverse. Prosessiteekkarit ry must be able to respond to this change without losing sight of its long history and valuable heritage.<\/p>\n
I believe that history is not merely something to be preserved. It is a resource that can be used to build the future.<\/p>\n
As Chair, I would work towards a Prosessiteekkarit ry that is:
Influential.
Member-oriented.
Collaborative.
Forward-looking.
Open and accessible.<\/p>\n
I consider strengthening cooperation between the guilds to be particularly important. As Chair, I would want to listen to guild members as broadly as possible. My goal would be to increase dialogue between the guilds, share best practices, and develop joint initiatives that guilds can easily participate in according to their own needs and starting points.<\/p>\n
As Chair, I want to be a good listener while also being decisive, collaborative while remaining goal-oriented. I want to foster an atmosphere in which different perspectives can be openly expressed. The strength of a guild does not come from everyone always agreeing, but from being able to discuss matters constructively and, once decisions have been made, to work together towards common goals.<\/p>\n
For these reasons, I am ready to take responsibility as Chair of Prosessiteekkarit ry and work to ensure that the guild remains an influential, vibrant, and respected advocate for the position of process engineering students, equality, education, and community also in the future.<\/p>\n
