Paavo Kari

I am Paavo Kari, a fourth-year bioproducts student, and I am applying for the position of Treasurer for the board of Prosessiteekkarit for the year 2025.

The role of Treasurer might not be the most visible or glamorous, but it is all the more important. I have previously served as a treasurer during my high school years and am confident that I am perfectly suited for this position. I want to challenge myself again by working with a larger organization, which involves more detailed accounting and a broader community. Of course, this also comes with greater responsibility. I know I can manage the work and am looking forward to the challenges it brings.

Previously, I have been active in our association, serving over the years as ISO, ISOISO and taking part in the song leading activities.

The work of a treasurer is important, but sometimes very independent. How would you ensure that all the tasks (e.g. financial statement, paying bills) will be done in time?

Bookkeeping and managing payments for the organization require accuracy and precision, so it is essential to handle these tasks carefully and punctually. I know it can sometimes be difficult to recall events and their details later on, which is why it’s important to keep expenses and invoices up to date, be meticulous in accounting, and settle bills well in advance.

At the beginning of the year, separate budgets are created for the various committees of Prosessiteekkarit. How would you ensure that committees follow the budget?

Staying within budget is a major responsibility, not only for the treasurer but for the entire board and all committees. It’s crucial that the budgets planned at the beginning of the year are carefully thought out and suitable for each committee. Throughout the year, expenses related to events and activities need to be monitored to ensure that the planned budgets are sufficient. It’s essential to review the budgets prepared by board members for their committees together to ensure their feasibility.
